We’ve recently carried out a survey on the movement joints to a podium deck car park located adjacent to a client’s office park in Hertfordshire.

Interesting to see how the existing joints have been detailed. Not only will the asphalt infill have been problematic in the recent hot weather, but when you look at the ‘secondary’ sealant work to both the top & the underside, that’s badly failed too! It’s also worth highlighting the importance of detail (or lack of …!) at transitions.

It just goes to show also that you should never try and bury joints below paving slabs!
