The scope of this refurbishment was to carry out concrete repairs to the structural beams of this 2-storey car park, which was previously protected with the use of netting to catch any spalling concrete.
Before: Damaged & Split Parking Decks
Before: Unprotected Ramps
Before: Damaged Structural Beams & Columns
Following a hammer survey, anodes were installed Sika’s Ferrogard 903 was applied to help prevent further corrosion. Once the concrete repairs were completed, some 1400m2 of concrete surfaces were coated in anti-carbonation coatings. Galvanised steel angles were then erected along all structural beams with a polyslip membrane to reduce friction between the structural beams and the pre-cast concrete planks.
The top deck had several splits and wheel indentations in the asphalt substrate leading long term water ingress. Once the substrate was prepared, all imperfections were levelled off and repaired before Sika’s enhanced decking system RB28 could be applied. Due to the hot weather, some of the waterproofing works had to be completed at night to allow for the asphalt to cool.
Our package of works included refurbishing the drainage channels, lampposts and barriers as well as installing new bollards for the existing signage on the top deck.
