The Wembley Central Shopping Centre is situated above an underground MSCP and Wembley Central Train Station with ongoing water ingress into both the sites below, meant significate waterproofing & associated works were necessary.

The existing paviours and sub-base were excavated to expose the reinforced concrete podium deck slab and undertook detailed drainage surveys. The extensive waterproofing works involved the installation of 1,500m² Tremco’s CPG Pumacrete podium deck membrane, bespoke movement joints and a new drainage matting layer. As well as overhauling all of the cast iron drainage system and installation of new drainage channels for surface water run-off.

A new substrate using varying materials including insulation and screed back fill to ensure weight loads were maintained and were installed to bring the build up back to existing levels followed by reinstatement of paviours.

The project was logically challenging and required precise planning as all areas affected were directly in front of retail, train station, residential and car park ingress and egress routes needing access some of which 24 hours a day. We constructed temporary ramps and walkways in a phased manor maintaining access to all 3 residential blocks, in excess of 20 retails units and a busy tube/train station. All while the European Cup was on!
