Tufnell Park Mansions is a residential building off Holloway Road, London with asphalt-covered communal terraces over retail shops.
The existing waterproof wearing surface above the shops had many defects resulting in water ingress into the retail units below. Cemplas’ works were to prepare and repair the substrate by mechanical abrasion and power washing ready for the application of IKO’s Polimar FCS Balcony and Walkway system. Chosen for its speed of cure to minimise inconvenience to residents while the new slip-resistant and waterproof surface was applied, Polimar primer, FCS detailing and wearing course were applied. Slip resistance was provided with Polimar aggregate followed by FCS Sealer Coat. Works were carried out over a short programme as the terraces are the only means of access for residents.
